How is Identity Verified During a Remote Online Notarization session?
1. ID Authenticity -Using your smartphone, you will take a clear photo or your approved form of ID and upload it to verify its authenticity. If the system is not able to clearly read your identification, you will not be able to proceed to the session. You will also need your ID physically with you to present to the Notary on camera during the session.
2. Verify your identity as the true owner of the ID presented, in one of two ways:
a) Knowledge-based Authentication (KBA) – A series of 5 multiple-choice questions drawn from your public record history. (For example: "With which of these addresses are you associated?" and “What color was the Ford you owned in 2010?”) If you do not have a United States Social Security Number and at least 5 years of credit history, this may not work for you.
Here comes your Florida Online Notary to the rescue! We can also verify your identity using…
b) Biometrics – You take a photo of your ID and upload it, then take a selfie and upload it.
